The teenage years can be difficult for both the teens themselves and for those who care about them. It can be an exciting time as teens discover interests, values and relationships. They also learn to speak for themselves and make important decisions. Often it feels like parents and their kids are speaking different languages. There is frustration, anger and confusion without clarity or common ground. I draw from both my personal and professional experience working with youth to help families find common ground and learn to speak the same language on topics such as homework, identity, chores, dating and time management.
